So Much for Loreful Work!

That was weird. I got hired by one of those singing-gig types to bodyguard his "Talisman bride" and, just maybe take out "Lamia".

It's not the kind of contract that I expected to get offered, in Sunnydale, but it was proper Diran work. (I was not minioning!) I was offered bonuses, too. The trouble is, it turned out that the job was up at the Inn. The Boss got me a room there, too.

There are people who know me, there - even more of them than I expected. I've already seen
Wesley, and I thought I got a glimpse of Angel! They were saying that a crazy Irishman had been warning people about a vamp - I'll bet that's Doyle!

I'm not so worried about them, though. I didn't really make LA too hot to hold me - at least, they can't prove anything . The trouble is, I saw Helen's car in the garage, when I first got here. She could have quite a grudge against me - so I just quietly syphoned the gas out of her car.

I didn't want her after me if I had to get out in hurry. We were expecting trouble with the Lamia, too - and I just wanted to have a couple of fire bombs handy.

(I can truthfully say that I burned the Lamia, too, if I decide to try claiming the bounty. Of course, she hadn't got a head by then, but that hardly bothers some species. The humans said they'd have to burn the body to stop her regenerating, so I just nipped over, got the bottle of gas and ... boom!

One we'd got the bonfire burning I thought I heard a woman mention marshmallows,so I slipped into the Inn kitchen. I couldn't find any, but there was a big container of hotdogs, so I microwaved them and took them out. It was only when I was handing them out that I remembered that they must really belong to Grant.

I'd always thought he was really laid back, but he'd just chopped the head off the Lamia!! So I tried to get a good price for the snacks, in case he wanted a cut, but people didn't like it.

I'm not sure if I've got rent money, either. The Boss and his Missus vanished before I got my bonuses, and - was she dead? Does a bodyguard get a bonus if the client dies? It's just as much work, maybe more.

I wanted to hang about Sunnydale and get waited on by the minion, but now ... I wonder if the Angel Investigations crew would give me a lift back to L.A.? I wonder if any of my loot is still where I stashed it? If Warfield's dead that's all mine...
