Bodyguarding

Some of my pals at home say that body-guarding is a soft option. Just hang around with the client, watch the dancing, don't have too much to drink - you know?

Not if you've got a client like Erynne.

When she said the blonde vampire was going to take a message to Lamia saying he'd trapped her in the caves, I thought, OK. The snake will be poking round the caves and we'll be upstairs having coffee or something.

I still don't know why she wanted us to really be in a cave! Now that snake is right here. Erynne ran for it, but my legs are short.

I'm crammed back into a crack that's much too narrow for a snake that size - or for the woman either. If I can push back much further I'll be through into the next cave, or cellar or whatever, while the snakes still trying to get...

I'm out - it trailed its horrible tongue on my face while it was trying to reach me! OK Lizard, payback time! I just fired a crossbow through - and it did not like that - time for me to run - I think the exit to this cave's a way over from the other one...

I don't think I'll ever take a bodyguarding job again.
